Newport Pier is a hub of restaurants, bars, local shops and is an easy walk or bike ride along the Ocean front boardwalk from HappiTravels Vacation Rentals. 

There is a farmers market on Sundays from 9 AM - 1 PM.   The Surfrider Foundation Newport Beach also hosts a beach cleanup in tandem with the farmers market.
